LGBTQIA+

This campaign will aim to civically engage all in the LGBTQIA+ community by intersecting with other campaigns. Voter registration, education, and follow through past the 2024 election will all be major focuses.

Healthcare is something that Queer Appalachians struggle to obtain. Our local healthcare systems are not trained to provide quality affirming care and often stigmatize those seeking help. In addition to this, access to testing, mental health counseling, and harm reduction tools are scarce. Through direct health access services, we are organizing our community to become active in their own future.

Public safety is always a concern for those in Northern Appalachian communities. Sometimes just shopping for your basic needs can be met with vitriol and violence. Through community listening sessions, we found that identifying and making safe spaces is a top Queer desire. Our LGBTQIA+ volunteer team has begun the work to identify Queer and Ally businesses and spaces. We plan on releasing a list to all who are interested in safer spaces, events, and businesses that make safety and acceptance a top priority. We will use this list to further organize the community and build up our base.

Our LGBTQIA+ campaign will also focus on art, drag, and music to involve and reach the community through networking events.
